Refugee, Asylum Seeker & Humanitarian Partnerships
Disability & complex support alongside existing case management.
Working alongside your existing support network
Waratah Connects welcomes refugees, asylum seekers and people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities who require disability and complex daily-living support.
We also welcome opportunities to work alongside refugee, humanitarian, settlement and community organisations across metropolitan and regional Victoria, as well as New South Wales, where additional disability-support capacity is required.
Members of our team bring experience supporting people from refugee, asylum seeker and culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
We understand that disability and daily-support needs can intersect with settlement, health, housing, language, culture, family circumstances and other significant life experiences.
Working alongside case managers
Where a person is already supported by a humanitarian, settlement or case-management organisation, Waratah can work alongside the existing team to deliver disability and complex daily-living support.
The existing organisation and case manager continue to lead their respective case-management, settlement and humanitarian responsibilities.
Waratah's role is to provide the agreed disability, daily-living and complex-support services.
We complement existing case management — we do not seek to replace it.
This approach allows the person to maintain continuity with their existing case manager and broader support network while accessing additional disability-support capacity where required.
How Waratah can support
Depending on the person's individual needs, available funding and Waratah's service scope, support may include:
- Personal care and assistance with daily living
- Community access and participation
- Disability support in the home and community
- Support for people with complex disability
- High-hour and 24/7 support where appropriate
- Support during transitions into the home and community
- Culturally responsive and person-centred support
- Working alongside families, interpreters and other professionals
- Communication and collaboration with the person's existing case manager and wider care team
Working with humanitarian & settlement organisations
Waratah welcomes discussions with humanitarian, settlement, community and case-management organisations about appropriate:
- Service-delivery partnerships
- Brokerage arrangements
- Subcontracting opportunities
- Supplier arrangements
- Collaborative support models
- Funded support pathways
- Procurement opportunities
Any arrangement is subject to the relevant person's needs and consent, available funding, program requirements, contractual requirements and Waratah's service scope.
Our first priority is to understand the existing pathway and determine where Waratah can appropriately add disability-support capacity without disrupting established case-management or settlement relationships.
Clear roles. Coordinated support.
The case manager remains the case manager. Waratah provides the disability and complex-support delivery. Our goal is to work collaboratively around the person — respecting their culture, language, identity, choices, relationships and existing support network.
